Nearly twenty years have passed since Thom turned his back on all he knew and closed his eyes to all he could see. And he did it all for a woman he had loved.
But her world was no place for someone who could see it as he could. Soon, the fancies she had found endearing began to pale. He was cast adrift, lost in a world that was not his own, until a chance meeting on a train brought him to a manor house filled with memories, and a wood filled with secrets that refused to be completely forgotten.
Now, he stands once again at the edge of a world that only he can see, if he can only remember how to look. Because, although he can see clearly the truth in the world around him, he has forgotten how to see the truths right in front of him.
Once she had stood at the center of her round, the Fairy Queen on her crystal throne. But she had given that up long ago, for a reason she still did not understand. Her mortal heart, her doom, called down on her by the Goblin King and his bride, still plagued her. Its unfathomable longings had driven her to hide deep in the Fairy wood, and deep in her mind as well. But something has woken her up, drawing her back to the edge of the wood, and to a simple groundskeeper, dressed in a poor man’s clothes but with the bearing of a lord.
The golden thread of Fate binds us all.
The White Hind is the culmination of the Stolen Away series, the final threads woven in the tapestry. It is a story of coming home and remembering once again how it feels to see magic in the world around us.
So, I have decided to do something new and frightening, and something I am completely uncomfortable with. Starting March 20th, I will begin posting chapters of my WIP for The White Hind on Ream for all to read. It is terrifying because of the way I write, which is not linear and prone to much change. Still, it is the final book in the series and will be the first final book I have ever written, and I wanted to share the writing of it with all of you. So, I am inviting you to join me as Thom and the Fairy Queen’s story takes shape, and even to add your thoughts into the mix!
This leads me to the second part of this post, paywalls. I completely understand them, and creators deserve to be paid for their creations. But I will admit that I find them frustrating sometimes. And for me, people reading and hopefully enjoying my stories is the most important thing of all. So, I have taken down all the paywalls on my Ream account. You can read all of my stories for free; all you have to do is follow me on Ream. And if you decide to support my art and writing, there are two tiers you can sign up for, if you are so inclined. Members will receive random swag throughout the year, along with other perks yet to be named.
So, I hope to see you over on Ream!
